What if healthcare started at home, not the hospital?

As people age or manage ongoing health conditions, many need support with daily activities. But that doesn’t always mean they need to be in a hospital. Cera is one service that makes it possible for individuals to receive care in their own homes, with help from trained carers and nurses. Their approach also uses simple technology to support everyday care and maintain independence.

Part of this involves an app that helps spot early signs of health issues. For example, it can identify patterns linked to falls several days in advance, giving carers time to respond. This kind of early action has helped reduce hospital visits and eased some pressure on healthcare systems.

Cera delivers a variety of home-based care services, ranging from everyday support for older adults to more advanced nursing care. It also provides assistance for individuals with learning disabilities and those living in supported housing, aiming to meet different needs in a way that fits each person’s situation.

In addition to care services, Cera runs training programs for people entering the health and care field. These programs offer opportunities to gain formal qualifications, including in nursing, and have helped many individuals some previously out of work start new careers in care.

Since its launch, Cera has expanded its operations to serve communities across the UK and Germany. The company carries out around 60,000 in-home care visits each day and employs nearly 10,000 staff members.
