UAE Schools Launch AI Curriculum for All Grades

The UAE introduces an AI curriculum across public schools starting in 2025—giving students early access to ethics, coding, and real-world AI skills.

What if kids learned how AI works before they even mastered long division? That’s the bold new direction the UAE is taking. Beginning in the 2025–2026 academic year, the Ministry of Education will roll out a nationwide AI curriculum for all public schools, from kindergarteners to high school seniors.

The idea isn’t just to prepare students for tech jobs. It’s to give them a head start on understanding the algorithms and systems already shaping their world.

What’s Actually Being Taught?

The new AI curriculum UAE is more than just coding. It’s a full spectrum of digital understanding—starting with visual, story-based introductions to AI in early grades and advancing to real-world use cases, ethical dilemmas, and design principles in higher grades.

Students will learn:
  • How AI systems make decisions.

  • How to spot and address bias in algorithms.

  • What ethical, social, and policy issues surround emerging tech.

  • How to build and test simple AI tools.

These lessons won’t add extra class time. Instead, they’ll be folded into existing “Computing, Creative Design, and Innovation” classes to ensure a smooth transition.

Big Partners, Big Plans

This isn’t just a Ministry initiative. The plan is backed by major AI institutions—including Presight (G42), AI71, the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), and the Emirates College for Advanced Education.

These partnerships help provide:
  • Professional training for teachers

  • Ready-made lesson plans and materials

  • Long-term support for keeping the curriculum fresh and relevant

Why It Matters

In a world increasingly run by algorithms, basic AI literacy is becoming as essential as math or reading. The UAE’s early investment in this area means its future workforce—and citizens—will be better prepared to engage with, shape, and challenge the tech that surrounds them.

It also supports national goals. AI education is a pillar of the UAE’s broader AI Strategy and Vision 2031. It’s not just about staying competitive—it’s about leading.
