In today’s fast-moving logistics environment, Saudi Arabia is modernizing how freight crosses its borders.
Bayan, a platform developed by the Transport General Authority, replaces paper processes with real-time, digital workflows—simplifying compliance, speeding up approvals, and improving oversight across national transport corridors.
Bayan (bayan.logisti.sa) is the national electronic transport documentation platform developed by Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA). Its primary function is to digitize the issuance and management of transport permits for foreign trucks operating within or across Saudi borders. By converting what was once a paper-heavy and manual process into a centralized digital system, Bayan enables greater efficiency, oversight, and security in freight movement.
Targeting logistics firms, customs agents, and freight operators, the platform ensures that every shipment is tracked and processed according to national transport and customs regulations. It also enhances visibility for government officials, allowing real-time monitoring and enforcement across Saudi Arabia’s road transport corridors.
Bayan integrates a range of services into one digital interface:
Transport documents are filed and processed online before cargo reaches the border.
Inspection coordination is streamlined between customs and TGA officials using shared digital data.
Real-time updates allow both freight operators and inspectors to track status changes instantly.
Permit compliance, fines, renewals, and violations are logged and managed within the same system.
This approach not only accelerates the flow of goods but also helps prevent fraud and operational inconsistencies at checkpoints.
Bayan plays a central role in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which includes transforming the Kingdom into a regional logistics powerhouse. As cross-border trade increases and regional supply chains grow more complex, having a centralized, digitized freight management system becomes a national asset.
By reducing border delays, increasing transparency, and eliminating paperwork, Bayan helps Saudi Arabia improve its logistics performance, particularly in terms of regulatory enforcement and service speed. It also strengthens trade ties within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), where cross-border trucking is a critical mode of freight transport.
