What Makes Fliteboard RACE a Different Kind of eFoil

Most eFoils are built for cruising, learning, or casual wave riding. None of that was the goal here. For over five decades, Mercury Racing has mastered speed and innovation, and its RACE collaboration with Fliteboard brings that fearless engineering to eFoils, redefining performance and pushing limits on water. The result is a high-speed racing eFoil that, as both brands put it, has been precision-engineered to take riders from the start line to the podium, reaching top speeds of 34mph, with nothing else that looks or performs like it.

So, what makes it different? At the core of the board is the RACE impeller, crafted with Mercury Racing, which delivers blistering top speeds and razor-sharp control, transforming the Jet C and MN Carbon Jet C into a precision racing machine whenever the finish line calls. The board itself was reshaped specifically around that power. A longer, narrower silhouette slices through flat water for unmatched efficiency and speed, while the refined rail design increases clearance for deeper lean angles and confident control at high velocity.

How Fliteboard RACE Works for Riders

A high-speed racing eFoil is only as good as the control it offers at speed, and several specific design choices were built around that need. A precision-tuned integrated kicker lets riders push harder into turns, offering instant feedback and a perfect reference point at the end of the board. In addition, every surface, volume, and interface has been re-engineered for speed, agility, and minimal drag; even the mast itself was moved and optimized specifically for flat-water performance and top speed.

Power flexibility matters just as much as control. The board is engineered to fit every Flitecell, giving riders the flexibility to go lighter or ride longer, with the Flitecell Explore maintaining peak voltage under load to drive higher RPMs and deliver up to 5% more top speed compared to the Flitecell Nano. Therefore, riders can tune their setup toward either raw speed or extended range depending on what a session calls for. Simon Axxman, a Flite product tester, summarized the result directly: "The RACE board unlocks incredible performance from the start to the finish line. From a controlled and fast take-off to maximum lean angles and speed, this board does it all."

Why Fliteboard RACE Points to the Future of the Sport

Beyond raw speed, the board signals where competitive eFoiling is heading as a sport. Fliteboard is preparing to launch its own competitive infrastructure around the board: APEX 250, a new competitive leaderboard built around an out-and-back 250 metre race that tests speed, acceleration, and agility. Riders will also gain a deeper understanding of their own performance, since the Flite App will soon track real G-force and lean angle, letting riders train with precision instead of guesswork.

The board's design choices reflect that competitive identity as much as the technology does. Signature Rosso stripes on Carbon Innegra give the board a bold design that reflects craftsmanship and uncompromising performance, making it not just a board but a statement. Eight-time Wakeboard World Champion Harley Clifford summed up the shift simply: Fliteboard has done it again, reimagining what a performance board can be with Fliteboard RACE X Mercury Racing, calling it a fresh take that's faster, sharper, and pure adrenaline.
