Samsung Bespoke AI Laundry: The Washing Machine That Figures Out What You're Washing

Most people do laundry the same way they always have. Sort the clothes. Pick a cycle. Hope the setting is right. Hope the denim doesn't shrink and the delicates don't tear. Samsung's Bespoke AI Laundry, launched on March 27, 2025, removes that guesswork entirely — and replaces it with a machine that figures out what it's washing before it starts.

The Bespoke AI Laundry is the first washing machine in Samsung's lineup to combine AI smart laundry fabric detection with a 7-inch touchscreen home hub, full energy optimization, and automated cycle selection across every load. It launched simultaneously across the Americas, Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and China — in large and small capacities, as standalone washer-dryer pairs and all-in-one combos. That breadth of launch signals this isn't a niche product for early adopters. It's the new standard Samsung is setting for what a washing machine should do.

How the AI Smart Laundry Fabric Detection System Works

The core of the Bespoke AI Laundry is AI Wash+ — an upgraded algorithm that uses sensors to detect fabric type, soil level, and load weight simultaneously before the wash cycle begins. Based on those readings, it automatically adjusts detergent levels, rinse time, water temperature, and wash intensity without any input from the user.

The detection now covers outdoor fabrics and denim — two materials that were previously difficult to clean consistently because of their density and structural variation. Furthermore, a dedicated Bedding cycle detects blanket thickness and adjusts water usage and cycle time accordingly, handling king-size comforters without manual configuration. Speed Shot technology completes full wash cycles in 30 minutes when time is short, without compromising cleaning performance.

On the drying side, AI Dry+ applies the same principle. Advanced sensors detect four fabric types — Normal, Heavy Duty, Synthetics, and Delicates in vent models; Normal, Towel, Denim, and Delicates in heat pump models — then monitor real-time temperature, weight, and moisture content throughout the drying process. Denim, historically hard to dry evenly because of thick sections like pockets, now gets a cycle calibrated specifically to its structure. Consequently, energy use drops by up to 10% and drying time by up to 15% compared to standard cycles.

The 7-Inch AI Home Screen That Turns a Washer Into a Home Hub

The second major shift in the Bespoke AI Laundry is the 7-inch AI Home screen embedded in every unit. This isn't a status display showing cycle time. It's a fully functional home control hub that monitors and manages all connected Samsung appliances simultaneously — refrigerators, air conditioners, dishwashers, and more — from the front of the washing machine.

The screen remembers user habits and seasonal patterns, suggesting appropriate wash cycles based on past behaviour rather than requiring manual selection each time. It also displays remaining detergent levels, monitors connected appliance status, and streams online videos or music during longer cycles. Furthermore, the AI Home functions across the entire Bespoke lineup — extending Samsung's Screens Everywhere vision from TVs and smartphones into the laundry room for the first time.

The 24-inch European model takes efficiency furthest. It consumes 55% less energy than the minimum threshold for a Class A energy rating — a measurable standard, not a marketing estimate. QuickDrive technology reduces wash time by up to 50% and drying time by up to 35% without compromising results. For households managing high laundry volumes, those numbers translate directly into lower electricity bills and faster turnaround.

Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics, described the Bespoke AI Laundry's direction plainly: the goal is to free users from having to consider the right cycle every time — and to make the appliance itself smart enough to handle that decision accurately and consistently.
