Samsara Tracking Label: A Paper-Thin Shipment Tracker

The Samsara Tracking Label, model TL11, is a paper-thin, printable shipping label that works with Samsara's Shipment Visibility solution. The company describes it as a way to "Track every shipment in near-real-time," powered by the Samsara Network. The flexible label measures 2 by 4 inches and is made of paper, PET and an adhesive-backed layer, so it can be attached to a shipment like any other shipping label.

How the Tracking Label Works

The label emits 2.4 GHz advertisements, short radio broadcasts that nearby Samsara Network gateways detect. A gateway is a device that receives the signal and passes it on. Location is approximate and based on the GPS location of those nearby gateways. Built-in flash memory logs data when internet connectivity is unavailable, and communications are AES-encrypted. Samsara says AI flags shipment exceptions and pairs the label with cloud features including developer APIs, a Shipment Center, an AI Assistant, Agent Studio and automations.

Specifications

The label measures 102 by 49 by 0.56 mm and weighs under 1 g. It operates between -10°C and 55°C and carries an IP 61 rating. Its radio output is 2 dBm on the 2.4 GHz ISM band, a license-exempt radio band. Samsara lists operation in the United States, Canada, the UK, Mexico and Europe.
