Aescape

Aescape is a lifestyle robotics company founded in 2017 by entrepreneur Eric Litman.
Based in New York, it aims to transform self-care by blending robotics, machine learning, and therapeutic craftsmanship to deliver personalized, automated massage experiences. Its first rollout in 2024 brought this innovation to Equinox spas, hotels, and fitness centers

What Makes Aescape Unique?

  • Robotic Massage System
Aescape’s massage table—known as the Aertable—features two robotic arms fitted with Aerpoints, precision-engineered to emulate seven types of human touch, including palm, thumb, and forearm techniques. These elements are heated to ~95°F for additional comfort.

  • Full-Body Scanning & Customization
Before each session, a 3D body scan captures roughly 1–1.2 million data points to tailor the massage to each individual’s anatomy and tension patterns. Users control pressure, music, and targeted areas via a touchscreen, and preferences are saved for future sessions.

  • Wearable Comfort
Clients remain fully clothed in specially designed Aerwear, a tech-enhanced garment that eases body mapping and eliminates the need for oils or towels—making the experience more accessible and hygienic.

Where It’s Available

Aescape launched its fully automated massage in early 2024, deploying machines in high-end locations like Equinox gyms in New York City—as well as the Lotte New York Palace and select spas in Miami.

More recently, they expanded to the Kimpton EPIC Hotel in Miami, where sessions start at around $40 for short treatments.

Benefits & Reception

  • Accessibility and Consistency
Aescape offers on-demand massage therapy without the need for a therapist’s schedule. With arms working simultaneously, the system delivers comprehensive coverage in less time compared to traditional methods.

  • Consumer Feedback
Reviews generally highlight convenience, comfort, and a surprisingly human-like feel. One Wired writer appreciated the control and privacy of each session. Another reviewer on PopSugar found the robot effective at relieving knots while noting minor improvements like clothing fit and broader coverage. However, some users online have questioned the experience, calling it less pleasurable than expected.
