A Long-Standing Challenge in Cat Nutrition

For many cat owners, feeding wet food is far from simple. Unlike dry kibble, wet food provides essential moisture and balanced nutrition, which can support digestion, hydration, and urinary health — especially important for cats prone to urinary tract issues.

However, wet food also presents practical challenges. It spoils quickly if left out, often requires careful portioning, and can be difficult to manage when families are busy or away from home. Traditional automatic feeders are mostly designed for dry food and lack the ability to keep wet food fresh or monitor how much a cat actually eats.

This gap in pet nutrition tools has made it difficult for many owners to provide consistently fresh, appropriately portioned wet meals — even when they know it benefits their cat’s long-term health.

Introducing the First Fully Automatic AI Wet Food Feeder

To address these challenges, PETKIT recently unveiled a new automatic wet food feeder designed to transform how cats are fed day to day.

This innovation combines automated meal dispensing with built-in AI monitoring and freshness control, making wet food feeding practical, measurable, and much more reliable.

Unlike conventional automatic feeders, this system is purpose-built for wet food, ensuring each portion is delivered at the right time and stays hygienic and fresh until it is eaten.

How the System Works

At its core, the feeder integrates several smart features that work together to make feeding effortless and informative:

Automated Dispensing and Timing

The feeder can be set with a feeding schedule and deliver meals automatically throughout the day, helping ensure cats are fed on time even when owners are out.

Freshness Monitoring

Using an NFC-based tracking mechanism, the system knows whether a serving has been eaten within a safe window. If not consumed within 48 hours, the feeder removes the leftover portion automatically to prevent spoilage.

AI-Powered Camera Monitoring

An integrated 1080p wide-angle AI camera watches meal consumption in real time. This allows the system to accurately detect whether food has been eaten and helps build a picture of eating patterns over time.

Sanitization and Safety

A built-in UVC sterilization light helps keep the serving mechanisms clean, reducing the risk of contamination and ensuring that meals remain safe until eaten.

Multi-Pet Recognition

If there are multiple pets in the home, the AI camera can distinguish between different animals, making it possible to track eating behavior for each cat individually.

Up to Seven Days of Automation

With careful planning and food storage management, the system can support up to a full week of unattended feeding schedules, giving owners real peace of mind.

Beyond Convenience: Supporting Feline Health

What makes this feeder stand out is not just convenience — it is its potential connection to health monitoring.

Data captured by the feeding system can show shifts in appetite or meal timing. Over weeks, these subtle changes can help owners spot patterns that may warrant closer attention or veterinary discussion. Consistent deviations in appetite can be a sign of stress, dental pain, digestive problems, or early urinary issues, all of which benefit from early detection.

PETKIT’s own smart pet care ecosystem — which also includes AI-equipped water fountains and litter boxes — brings feeding data together with other behavioral insights in a single dashboard. This integrated approach helps owners see trends across eating, drinking, and litter box habits, which are key indicators of feline health.

Where Smart Feeding Meets Preventive Pet Health

For pet owners managing busy schedules, travel, or multiple cats, this automatic wet food feeder replaces manual routines with a structured system that dispenses scheduled portions, reduces spoilage, and tracks eating habits over time. By combining freshness control, real-time monitoring, and multi-pet recognition, it turns feeding from a basic daily task into a measurable routine that can reveal changes in appetite or behavior. This is particularly relevant for cats prone to urinary issues, where consistent nutrition and hydration play an important preventive role, and reflects a broader shift in pet technology toward integrated systems that connect automation with practical health insight rather than simple convenience.
