Dubai
International Airport has launched a new kind of immigration experience. It
is called the Red-Carpet Smart Corridor.
Instead of lining up to show your passport, you
simply walk through a corridor. As you move, cameras scan your face and eyes.
The system confirms your identity in real time. You don’t need to stop, speak,
or hand over documents.
This is a major step toward a more efficient,
contact-free airport journey.
The corridor uses biometric recognition and
artificial intelligence to identify travellers.
Here is how it works:
Each person is cleared in just six to fourteen
seconds. The system can process up to ten travellers at the same time. It is
currently available in Terminal 3 for arriving passengers.
This new system transforms the immigration
process into something quick and simple.
Here’s what it means for travellers:
Passengers walk through smoothly while the
system works in the background.
This project is part of Dubai’s broader goals
to improve travel and public services through technology.
The Red-Carpet Smart Corridor supports two
major strategies:
Dubai International Airport handled over 86
million passengers in 2024. With numbers growing, this system helps the airport
stay efficient without adding more counters or staff.
