The Same Steps, A Different Speed
Walking has not changed in thousands of years.
The stride, the push-off, the natural rhythm of one foot in front of the other.
The Moonwalkers Aero does not change any of that. It amplifies it. Strap them
onto any pair of shoes and walk normally. The AI reads the way you move,
measures your gait continuously, and multiplies your speed without asking you
to change a single thing about how you walk. At 7mph, that is three times the
pace of a normal walking stride, reached without running, without effort, and without
any controller or remote in your hand.
Moonwalkers Aero: How ShiftOS Makes It Work
The intelligence behind the Moonwalkers Aero is
ShiftOS, Shift Robotics' AI software that controls how the shoes respond to
each step. Walk slowly, and the shoes deliver minimal assistance. Walk faster, and the power increases smoothly underneath each foot. To stop, simply slow
down or place both feet flat on the ground. The system reacts instantaneously,
making the shoes agile enough to move through crowds and adapt to different
terrain without any manual input. Going uphill, ShiftOS boosts power to maintain
pace. Going downhill, the high-torque gearbox and motor engage to brake the
wheels automatically, preventing free rolling and delivering a controlled, safe
descent. Three modes are accessible through foot-activated gestures. LOCK mode
keeps the wheels locked for navigating tight spaces or climbing stairs.
TRAINING mode eases new users into the experience. SHIFT mode delivers full-powered walking at speed.
Lighter, Quieter, More Precise Than the Previous Generation
The Moonwalkers Aero is approximately one pound
lighter per shoe than the previous generation, a nearly 20 percent reduction in
weight achieved by simplifying the drivetrain from eight driving wheels to four
and replacing the aluminium powertrain with sports car-grade magnesium alloy.
The result is a total weight of 4.3 pounds across both shoes. Noise levels have
been reduced by 15 decibels compared to the previous generation, bringing the
operating sound down to 60 decibels, 30 times quieter than before. The
aerodynamic design is inspired by F1 cars, with air intakes built into the side
profile that increase airflow through the brushless DC motor, improving cooling
and performance simultaneously. A foot-shaped platform and flexible Vulcanized
Thermoplastics Strap Base curve around any shoe for a snug, secure fit. Every
visible external component is user-replaceable, allowing full personalisation
of the straps, wheels, and cosmetic parts.
Built for Urban Environments and Commercial Use
The Moonwalkers Aero charges to 80 percent in
30 minutes via USB-C and delivers a range of up to 7 miles per charge. IP-rated
waterproofing handles rain and puddles. Foot-activated gestures keep both hands
free throughout use. The ShiftOS app provides real-time feedback on stride,
battery life, and speed, and allows users to customise acceleration profiles to
match their walking style.
