Lumia 2 Tracks Blood Flow From an Earring, Not a Wristband

Lumia 2 is a smart earring health tracker built by Lumia Health, and it's the company's second generation of the product, following an earlier Lumia 1 that already has real customers. The team building it includes people who previously built hardware at Bose, Peloton, Philips, and Whoop. Lumia 2 tracks more than 20 health metrics from a single earring, including one measurement the company states no other consumer wearable captures: blood flow to the head.

Why Lumia Chose the Ear Instead of the Wrist

Lumia states the ear sits about three times closer to blood vessel-rich tissue than the wrist does, and that this location produces about 80% less motion artifact compared with wrist-based trackers, while maintaining consistent skin contact around the clock. The company notes these specific figures are for illustrative purposes, and that actual signal quality varies based on an individual's own physiology and exactly how the device is worn.

Five Metrics From One Earring

Lumia 2 tracks blood flow, a daily readiness score, sleep, cycle patterns, and activity. Readiness combines how someone slept, their overnight heart recovery, and their body's natural rhythm into one daily score. Sleep tracking covers deep, light, and REM stages every night. Cycle tracking follows hormonal patterns from the ear, which Lumia describes as one of the most consistent points on the body for that kind of tracking. Activity tracking covers steps, active minutes, and movement intensity throughout the day, connected back to sleep and recovery data. Blood flow itself is framed as the standout metric, one the company states can help explain unexplained symptoms or simply offer an honest daily read on how the body is functioning.

Jewelry First, Tracker Second

Lumia 2 comes in three finishes: gold, silver, and titanium, and three styles: a classic stud, a subtle huggie hoop, and a statement cuff, designed to fit into someone's existing jewelry rather than looking like a separate piece of technology. The company states it can also be worn alongside a person's existing earrings. Battery life is rated at 5 to 8 days per charge.

How Lumia Positions Itself Against Other Wearables

Lumia published its own comparison chart against Oura, Whoop, and Apple Watch, and it's worth being clear that this is the company's own comparison rather than an independent test. According to that chart, Lumia 2 is the only one of the four with blood flow tracking and what it calls the most accurate sensor placement, while sleep tracking is available on all four and cycle tracking is available on all but Apple Watch. Lumia's own team draws individual experience from Bose, Peloton, Philips, and Whoop specifically, though this reflects individual team members' work history rather than a formal partnership between Lumia and those companies. Lumia states plainly that Lumia 2 is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition.
