How VIZZ Eye Drops Help with Age-Related Vision

VIZZ is a prescription eye drop developed to improve near vision in adults with presbyopia. It offers an alternative to reading glasses by working directly on the eye’s focusing ability.

Understanding the Condition

Presbyopia is a common vision condition that affects adults as they age. It usually begins after age 40 and results from the eye’s lens losing flexibility. As a result, focusing on close-up tasks, such as reading or using a phone, becomes harder.

Most people use reading glasses or bifocals to manage this change. While effective, these tools do not address how the eye itself focuses. VIZZ represents a different approach that changes the eye’s optical behavior.

How VIZZ Works

The active ingredient in VIZZ is aceclidine. This compound causes the pupil to contract slightly, producing a pinhole effect that increases the depth of field. This allows the eye to bring nearby objects into clearer focus.

The drop is designed for once-daily use. It usually takes effect within 30 minutes and can last for up to 10 hours, depending on the user. VIZZ comes in single-use, preservative-free vials to reduce the risk of irritation or contamination.

Clinical Development and Use

VIZZ is the first aceclidine-based eye drop approved in the United States for the treatment of presbyopia. Approval followed clinical studies that tested both its safety and effectiveness in adults with age-related near vision loss.

In these studies, many participants experienced temporary improvement in near vision after use. Reported side effects were typically mild, including eye redness, dim vision, or slight discomfort. The results suggest that VIZZ may offer a short-term improvement in near focus for individuals with presbyopia.

Guidelines for Use

VIZZ is only available with a prescription. Users should follow medical instructions and avoid activities such as driving or using machinery if vision becomes dim after application.

Contact lens users are generally advised to remove their lenses before applying the drop and wait before reinserting them. As with all eye medications, it's important to avoid touching the vial tip to the eye or other surfaces during use.
