One of the central developments is the Distribution Network Smart Centre (DNSC), which became operational in early 2024. The facility processes over 15 million data points daily from smart meters, electric vehicle charging stations, and solar panels. AI tools analyze this data to detect faults and adjust grid performance in real time, minimizing service interruptions and reducing manual oversight.
In mid-2025, DEWA deployed an AI Legislation Agent, a virtual tool designed to help teams navigate regulatory standards more efficiently. It offers real-time guidance on safety protocols and compliance, supporting quicker and more informed decision-making.
The organization is also implementing generative AI tools across its internal functions. These include productivity software integrations and customer-facing platforms such as the chatbot "Rammas," which has managed over 138,000 user inquiries since 2023.
Beyond AI tools, DEWA is investing AED 7 billion (approx. USD 1.9 billion) into upgrading infrastructure under its Smart Grid Strategy. The project introduces IoT-based monitoring, automated grid restoration, and integrated management between water and electricity systems.
This infrastructure is intended to support broader initiatives such as the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, while also enhancing transparency and operational resilience.
