Ice baths have long been a staple of athletic recovery, known for reducing inflammation, boosting circulation, and speeding up muscle repair. But the physical shock of plunging into freezing water isn’t for everyone. Zerobody Cryo, a new innovation from Italian wellness company Starpool, offers a radically different approach: cold therapy without getting wet.

This patented system combines dry flotation with cryogenic cooling, allowing users to lie fully clothed on a membrane of chilled water, suspended in a weightless state. It's cryotherapy designed not just for performance, but for comfort.

How It Works

At the heart of the system is a patented membrane filled with cooled water, maintained at 4–6°C (39–43°F). As users lie on the surface, their body is enveloped in a controlled cold environment, without direct exposure to ice or liquid.

The result is even, full-body cooling with none of the shock or discomfort typically associated with traditional ice baths. The experience mimics floating in cold water but with dry insulation, allowing for longer, more relaxing sessions.

Users can personalize their experience via a built-in touchscreen interface, adjusting temperature and session time to meet their goals, whether it’s physical recovery, mental relaxation, or immune system stimulation.

Expanded Benefits

  • Faster Recovery: Accelerates muscle healing post-training and reduces delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).

  • Cognitive Reset: The calming, float-like environment helps reduce stress and mental fatigue.

  • Circulatory Health: Cold exposure stimulates blood flow and improves vascular function.

  • Skin Benefits: Enhanced circulation may promote firmer, more elastic skin.

  • Accessibility: Designed to be used in gyms, spas, hotels, and clinical rehab centers—no prep or post-use cleanup required.

Where It's Being Used

Zerobody Cryo is already being integrated into:

  • High-performance training centers for athletes and sports teams.

  • Luxury spas and wellness retreats offering premium recovery programs.

  • Corporate wellness hubs supporting employee stress management.

  • Medical clinics and physiotherapy centers as a non-invasive recovery tool.

Its dry, hygienic design also makes it suitable for shared-use environments, unlike traditional water-based cryotherapy units.
