Smart Glasses are built to change how people with blindness or low vision
interact with their surroundings. Instead of relying on screens or touch
controls, users can simply speak, and the glasses respond through Ally’s
accessible AI assistant. Combined with Solos’ smart glasses hardware, this
design delivers real-time support by reading menus, describing objects, and
sharing what the camera sees in clear speech. In practice, it means that daily
routines can be navigated with less dependence on others and with more personal
confidence.
These glasses are officially called Ally Solos Glasses, and their
design reflects both comfort and durability. At less than 50 grams in weight,
they remain light on the face even during long hours of use. Their IP67 splash
resistance ensures resilience for everyday conditions, while an HD camera and
open-ear speakers allow information to be captured and shared without blocking
natural hearing. With Bluetooth compatibility, they link directly to a phone,
while the USB-C battery stems enable both fast charging and easy swaps.
Pre-orders opened on August 14, 2025, with shipping planned for October 2025,
making them a current step forward in accessible technology.
Daily use has been shaped to minimize effort and maximize independence.
The glasses pair to a smartphone over Bluetooth, and all interaction happens
through voice commands—removing the need for manual input. This makes it
possible to issue requests on the move, such as asking the glasses to describe
a nearby space or read a printed text. The open-ear directional speakers ensure
that while information is delivered clearly, the user’s natural hearing is left
unobstructed. The lightweight build is comfortable for extended wear, and with
the USB-C charging stems, energy can be replenished quickly. A short top-up
provides hours of continued use, making the device reliable across a full day
of activity.
The vision behind Ally Solos Glasses highlights how assistive technology
can be designed with users, not just for them. The glasses were co-developed
with blind and low-vision communities, ensuring that interaction feels
intuitive and natural. Their long-lasting battery, quick-swap charging stems,
and voice-first interface position them as practical tools rather than
experimental concepts. By aligning technical features with lived experience,
these glasses represent a shift in how wearable AI can integrate into ordinary
routines, shaping a future where independence is central.
