Moonwalkers are motorized footwear that attaches over regular shoes, using artificial intelligence to adapt to the user's walking patterns. With a top speed of 7 mph, they allow users to walk up to 2.5 times faster than normal. The AI system analyzes gait and terrain in real-time, adjusting speed and movement to ensure a natural and safe walking experience.
The latest model, Moonwalkers Aero, features a lightweight design with six wheels per foot, reducing weight and noise compared to earlier versions. Constructed with a magnesium alloy powertrain and Neodymium magnet-based motor, each unit weighs approximately 4.2 pounds. The shoes offer a range of up to seven miles on a single charge and include a thermal and regenerative management system for improved efficiency.
Beyond personal use, Moonwalkers have significant implications for industries where employees are on their feet for extended periods. In warehouse settings, for example, workers using Moonwalkers have reported productivity increases of over 200%, with some companies seeing a return on investment in under a month.
Moonwalkers have garnered attention for their innovative approach to mobility, earning a spot on TIME's list of the 200 Best Inventions of 2023. This recognition underscores the potential of wearable robotics to transform everyday activities and professional workflows.
