What Is the Videray PX1?

The Videray PX1 is a handheld backscatter X-ray imager designed for rapid, non-intrusive inspection. Utilizing a 140 keV X-ray source and patented optics, it can penetrate materials like steel, concrete, and carbon fiber, providing high-resolution images in real time.

This capability allows operators to detect concealed threats such as explosives, narcotics, and weapons without opening or damaging the inspected items.

How It Works

Equipped with an Infinity Detector, the PX1 delivers enhanced image clarity and faster scanning. Its ergonomic design includes a 7-inch ultra-bright touchscreen, dual flashlights, and dual vertical line lasers to assist in precise targeting. The device supports single or dual-handed operation and offers features like image stitching and various imaging filters to improve threat identification. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB, facilitating real-time data sharing and over-the-air updates.

Where It’s Used

The PX1 is used in a variety of high-security settings, including border checkpoints, transportation hubs, critical infrastructure, and correctional facilities. It allows personnel to inspect vehicles, packages, or structural elements for hidden contraband or tampering without disassembling or delaying operations. Its portability and speed make it especially valuable in field conditions where rapid decision-making is critical.
