Sol Motors, headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, has launched the Pocket Rocket, a compact electric motorcycle featuring striking minimalist design and advanced mobility features. Initially teased for years, the bike is now available for pre-order and is set to ship globally within 6–8 weeks.
Design Innovation: Built around a pipe-like aluminum frame housing the battery, motor controller, lighting, and wiring, the Pocket Rocket stands out for its clean aesthetics and functional minimalism—uniquely positioned between a moped and motorcycle.
Performance Specs: The standard model delivers 6.5 kW peak power and is capped at 45 km/h, eligible for moped licenses in Europe. The Pocket Rocket S ups performance with 8.5 kW and a top speed of 85 km/h, requiring a more advanced license class.
Lightweight and Efficient: At just 87 kg, it enables agile handling and offers an electric range of roughly 42–67 miles (68–108 km) depending on configuration and riding mode.
Removable Battery & Features: The tubular battery is housed in the crossbar and can be easily removed for indoor charging. Customers can purchase extra batteries, and Sol offers a sleek wall-mount charging station.
The Pocket Rocket fills a unique niche in urban mobility: a silent, low-maintenance electric vehicle that’s easy to park, easy to license, and compelling in everyday performance. It appeals to city commuters who need a lightweight, eco-friendly option that avoids the bulk of typical electric motorcycles.
By making pre-orders and international shipping available now, Sol Motors supports early access for riders across Europe and beyond. Pricing begins around €5,990 for the 45 km/h version and €6,990 for the faster 85 km/h model, with full configurations pushing toward €8,000 or more when adding extras.
Design Accolades: Pocket Rocket earned distinctions such as the German Design Award thanks to its minimalist aesthetic and lightweight architecture.
CES Innovation Honoree 2025: Its concept of “pipe-on-wheels” mobility has drawn attention from the global tech stage.
Sustainable Urban Use: With energy-efficient hub motors, regenerative braking, and license plate–based registration for both versions, it aligns with European urban mobility goals aiming to reduce emissions and congestion.
